Spring 2012: Just Garden Project (JGP)

The Just Garden Project is a grassroots organization that builds a just food system and a culture of gardening for all people. We build gardens, celebrate our community, educate new gardeners and engage youth to take an active role in this transformation. We work throughout King County.

POSITION TITLE: Donor Communications Intern

INSPIRATION: You will be on the ground level of one of the most dynamic, fun and exciting food movement projects in the county and possibly the country. In doing this work, you will gain community fundraising and donor relations experience. You will also gain professional contacts with the Just Garden Project, Seattle Tilth and stakeholders.

TIME COMMITMENT: 5-7 hrs/week with flexible scheduling. Fall internship runs from January – May 2012 with the ability to continue through the year.

DESCRIPTION: Working with founder and JGP manager Stephanie Seliga, you will be helping develop and run a donor communication system. This system will engage donors through fall and winter donations while laying the foundation for the 2012 fundraising year.

DELIVERABLES:

 Meet with supervisor on a regular basis to determine work goals and evaluate progress.

 Maintain records for donor communication.

 Communicate with donors, volunteers and stakeholders

 Respond to public inquiries by phone, email and in person.

 Organize and maintain digital and print records.

 Complete tasks as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 Comfortable working with diverse groups of people

 Dedication to JGP mission and values

 Able to commit to and complete tasks within agreed upon timelines

 Enthusiasm and confidence when working with youth and adults

 Interest and knowledge of social justice and cultural competencies

 Social media and Microsoft office proficiency

 Strong organizational and time-management skills

 Strong written and oral communication
