Building a just food system and a culture of gardening for all people is the mission of the Just Garden Project. Bringing together local resources, businesses, communities and individuals is how the Just Garden Project does our work within King County. Since 2010 the Just Garden Project built over 40 gardens, organized over 600 volunteers and tallied over 9,000 volunteer hours.
Each of these gardens is the potential of producing upwards of $650 worth of organic fruits and vegetables. As the cost of gas, food and living goes up, these gardens offer hope and real sustenance for people struggling to make ends meet. The JGP exists in the space created by decades of dedicated garden work in Seattle. Cedar Grove, Seattle’s compost company fill the gardens with soil. Lettuce Link fills bags of regionally appropriate seeds for each of our gardeners. Seattle Tilth houses Just Garden.

Donors and Volunteers are the glue that holds the program together. Donations come in from local businesses, champions and individuals funding the work and giving the Just Garden Project the community support we need to keep going. Volunteers do everything from sending out thank you notes to physically building gardens. Together our donors and volunteers and community partners are the motor behind the magic.
